listening to a radio feature where the almans are angry about support from muslims in Germany for Palestine. The disgusting journo-shitheads and the police guy they have in the studio say that they want to make it clear that they decide what's legal and illegal in Germany, not muslims. Suddenly, muslims have to do as Germans say? That's nazi fascist shit, what happened to integration?

Realized that I don't hear my mom yelling anymore.
No, not in a bad way (per se), she's very much alive and we get along better than before, most of the time.
But - my room was upstairs and she doesn't like to walk, so she ALWAYS yelled for me. Year after year.
EEEEEERNST! EEEEERNST! EEEEEERNST!
And because I usually had music on or she wasn't yelling as loud as she thought, it was more of a hint beyond a veil behind the door, downstairs.
First I'd notice something, then I started listening and heard the second one and until I managed to get to the door it was already the third one.
And even after a few years of living alone in my own place, I could still hear that first faint hint of yell.
And sometimes I jumped to the door to see what bullshit she had for me just to say "when I yell like this it's nothing :^)".

Grandma passed away this morning. Parents didn't tell me until I got home from the exam.
Apparently nobody could visit her because the hospital was locked down due to the flu season.
As usual I cope with the grief by saying that if someone lived a full life and had a nice family and a few years of peace, then there is no "tragedy", it's just an expected closure to a story. Dad said he's an orphan now. I gave him a hug, but by the time I got home he seems to have regained his composure completely, saying "It is the circle of life".
It kind of feels like I treat grief badly because I just can't feel immediately overly devastated and I only start crying during the burial and the mass.
Don't know what I'm gonna do tomorrow. Probably go to the library again.
The alarm clock is working fine, though now that it's running properly, I keep waking up before it rings again.
Now that I'm done with my only exam for the midterms I feel a bit aimless, but I think I'll just forget the questions in a day or two and then start cramming again at the library.

Purchased necessary consumer items today. Shoes for work. Same ones I picked out two months ago. I like them, but they are fading fast- even with new insoles. Give them another month, tops. Yeah, not very durable but the most comfortable work shoes I've ever worn. So, I consider it a cost of doing business. While I was in the shoe store, I also grabbed some lightweight boots for the inevitable winter.
Made another stop for new windshield wiper blades. Mine were leaving streaks. Let the guy at
AutoZone install them. Emasculating? A little, but it was a free service and I have a very reasonable fear of breaking anything I touch. I also put air in my tires. Had to pay $1.50 at a car wash place, because the free
for customers air compressor I intended on mooching from
BJ's was broken. Or was it at
Cosco? I can't keep those big warehouse stores straight. Same with

Philipp Melanchthon was 150cm tall, skinny and very diplomatic in nature. Compare to Johannes Carion.
At Tübingen university, Melanchthon (then named Schwarzert) was Carion's (then named Negellin) RA. They both took lectures in astronomy from Johannes Stöffler at the same time. Carion's later academic work focused on astronomy, while Melanchthon became a professor of Greek and spokesman and assistant of Luther.
Stemming from a proto-puritan family, Melanchthon lived a live in relative poverty, spending much of his salary as a professor of Greek on housing and feeding student's while working as an assistant and spokesman for Luther.
Carion became an advisor to Joachim, elector of Brandenburg. There is little fact and much legend about his life. One concerns his gravestone, on which Georg Sabinus, Melanchthon's son in law, purportedly had inscribed the following:
> Dr. Johannes Carion, devourer of monstrous jugs of wine, soothsayer from the luminaries, highly famed among the powerful, succumbed to the competition during a banquet. May Christ in his mercy forgive him, who so suddenly collapsed in the circle of the carousers.
A slight hint of derision seems to be detectable.
German balls can read up their biographies on Wikipedia, it's quite interesting.
Anyway, I had stable diffusion do Chad Carion vs. Virgin Melanchthon, with disappointing results. I then explained that Carion was a fat bearded guy and asked to make it look more like Cranach and less like an illustration from a 19th-century Faust-edition. Got a Russian icon with a fat version of Melanchthon sporting an uncharacteristically long beard and baby-jesus who wears someone else's skin as a shirt, Russian icon style. And this last gem. Still impressed by there ai.

I had a second coffee and apparently my father has no clue how the machine works. He got it from a friend who was decommissioning it from his hotel or something like that.
He somehow managed to make a cup of joe, but the results currently do not replicate it seems like.
He kept mentioning how we "need to download the manual" and I kinda expected him to do it, but when he got home he was like "So, do we know how to make coffee now?" and I told him no, "we" do not.
I'm unwilling to put in the labour necessary for this procedure. I don't even know why the family expects ME to do it. I guess I'm the one who usually bothers to read the manual, be it the breadmaker, rice cooker or air fryer.
I figured out how to convert cbz files into pdf with the correct aspect ratio, so I can now read manga on my Kindle.

Yesterday was allright. I held a very short presentation in Chinese. Afterwards the Chinese teacher showed me a few middle school textbooks containing Classical Chinese stories. The only two in them were the Spear and Shield anecdote from the Hanfeizi (which is important because Spear-Shield is still how you say "Contradiction"/"Dialectic" in Chinese) and the other was the Liezi anecdote in which Confucius is ridiculed.
Some dude at university pinged everyone by email. He made a post that said "New post on the timeline..." and then he fucked up something because everyone at the humanities department got an email by the looks. I wouldn't say he's accountable for this fuckup, considering he's an adjunct at the "Digital Pedagogy Institute".
I've been thinking about this for two days now. It's captivating that someone I never heard of before pinged me on a service (Microsoft Yammer(?)) I've never heard of before.
Chinese philosophy seminar was great. I'm full of new books and plans for the future.
We talked about the Mozi. Well, not we, it was just the professor. His room always smells like tobacco. I don't think I've ever seen someone smoke so unashamedly at university before, pipe out on the desk and so on.
It's kind of reminiscent of another time. Like sometimes I'd read memoirs and they'd say that you could cut the smoke during lectures, because everyone was smoking basically. (All five people who were there.)
I was a bit tired but nonetheless I decided to attend German class because I didn't want to let the teacher down. On the way in I stepped in some dogshit and I couldn't get it out of my shoes no matter what I rubbed it against, so I left them by the door under a bench. I didn't make a fuss about it, but when I started packing my things, the teacher said I'm putting away things as if I was a conscript about to be let loose, and I said I want to check if my shoes are still there, and they were there. It baffled him a bit but I explained that "I stepped on a landmine" and then it all linked up and he said it was very gentlemanly to be this considerate of the others even in this weather.
I got home and went to bed early, reading from the Shujing and some manga.
Woke up very early but I decided to go back to bed and I stayed in bed until half past ten. I woke up and had a coffee and then I went out and helped with the shopping, since my mother is still kinda sick.
Afterwards I decided it was kinda late already, so I just spent some time playing video games. Finally tried out Three Kingdoms Total War and I managed to get Cao Cao killed on my third battle, so I quit the game and went back to playing Postal 4, which so far sucks ass but I'm going to finish it regardless to see if there's any hope for this game or if it was just some higher plan RWS had with making the first day suck as much as possible. (Like that it sucks dick ironically, but then again, ironic shitposting is still shitposting as a literally who once said.)
Also I baked a pizza and made some sauce for it, so I can pack away some as lunch for tomorrow when I go to the library and to pick up some books.

none of the options do even work without memory. i therefor picked it, because i was assuming
> welp, if i don't pick memory, how am i supposed to pick a 2nd option? the first option would have been gone by the time i pick the next one. therefor memory is a must-pick and always has to be included.you could argue, that any other options includes it automatically or that the posed question already superimposes memory -> making picking memory a waste, since it is always included anyway. pic related.

I picked up three books I ordered last week on my way and also felt compelled to buy a drink so I went to a convenience store and bought a can of tonic water.
The main reading room was still almost full, though I managed to find and empty desk. I think like a fifth of the people were Asian. Saw some pretty extravagant setups, like people with a macbook on a laptop cooler stand AND and ipad with a pen. When I went to the toilet I checked and they were browsing facebook and furniture catalogues.
I almost finished my translation. Also re-worked some of the previous paragraphs I did. I wrote some e-mails and checked out the books I picked up. One is about the structure of traditional Chinese agriculture.
I was at the library for around four hours and I decided to call it quits after that. There was an hour left until it closed, so I decided to leave early.
On the way home I bought a loaf of bread and some oregano. I came home and made another pizza from the leftover dough. I had a can of caffeine free energy drink. (Sounds like an oxymoron, but the tuttifrutti taste is nice I guess.)
Then I played some more Postal.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with today. I got a lot of things done and I was full of energy throughout the day.

The only village of the island has seen its population vary from ~200 to 40 people during the centuries and is composed of a semi-circular row of one story houses on a slope. The sea around the island was extremely agitated so much of the islander’s food came from sheep herding and bird hunting. It became somewhat famous during the Industrial Revolution for its fairly high living standards especially compared to the rest of Scotland, and the Hebrides. Many romantics saw the island as the last human (white) frontier and a contradiction from modern life thus loved it and wrote some poems.
Last permanent settlement was left during the 60s. The village is still there, empty. And I think it hosts a military base.

I cleaned out the room completely. Harvested a pepper.
Made some rosemary bread.
Had a coffee. It reminded me of the coffees I had at the office. Which is not a good thing mind you.
My mother says it's the coffee ground she used for it.
I've also spent 4 hours gaming. You know what, Postal 4 is pretty good I think. It starts coming together by the end of Tuesday.
The room feels so nice now. Like fuck I enter and it's just nice to look at the carpet and not have random papers and books all over the place.
And the rosemary bread is so nice.
I'm in such an elevated mood it's unbelievable. I basically achieved all my goals for today.
Dunno about tomorrow. I kinda want to go to the library again. Have lunch at home and then pack my things and go out.
I have a small presentation to prepare on ancient Chinese burial rituals. Nothing specific, but the lecturer (who isn't a Sinologist) seemed to have been interested in Fu Hao's tomb and human sacrifice during the Shang.
I'll read some new material for it but I'm also going to lean heavily on re-reading the Hungarian edition of Vasilyev's "Kulty, religiy, tradiciy v Kitaye".
Feels like my sinology is about to enter into a more Russian/Soviet inspired period.
One thing that's odd is that as I've said I'm taking classes with this old professor and we have good chats afterwards, but I feel like he's severely underestimating what I could know about things outside of China when it comes to history and philosophy.
It's this delicate dance where he will describe something and waits to see if I can name the concept.
Like he'd give me a short description of something which is problematic in a book and I'd reply "So I should be wary of parts that utilize dialectical materialism as a framework?" and he'd look impressed and point with his pipe telling me "Exactly."
Now that I think about it, it's a perfectly fine way to measure what I know and don't know. Man, I wish I knew at least some Russian.

the video featured Jared Duker Lichtman and he made me reconsider some of my previous beliefs.
bevore i thought the whole of oxford is cancer. i still believe their humanitarian "science" department is pure cancer, at least most of it. You always have some individuals who can think for themselves even if they are surrounded by cancer. There might be some even in oxford, but oxford is especially cancer even compared to other humanitarian "science" departments.

i also think i should look to pirate mathematica because of the video.
i played a little with the free trial... and actually played pretty much around with what the topic of the video is talking about without knowing someone else already did and does the same. I had a different approach, thou. used GCD as well, but combined it with the logic of pascals triangle and plotted it with colour values instead of numbers. trying to find some form of pattern.

I have tapered off of a medication which I was on since childhood. Epilepsy. People can outgrow that. Seems I did. Didn't tell the doctor. Just gradually reduced the dose over the last couple of years. Very irresponsible. Doc even asked if I wanted to taper. Told her no. She would have wanted blood tests and brain scans as part of the process. Too much trouble.
Good news: no seizures. Bad news: the meds also had positive side-effects. A mood stabilizer. Some days I miss that. It's also been an adjustment not taking the pills every day. Find myself reaching for that drawer before realizing I don't need them anymore. Have a lot left, since the doc was writing prescriptions for far more than I was taking. Don't know why I filled them all. A safety net, perhaps. In case a full taper failed.

The king himself had been mentally ill for half a century, and his eldest son with the title of prince regent, an extraordinary glutton and drunkard, who had only one daughter, Charlotte (a wild creature), performed royal duties. In addition to her father, the king had six other sons, gamblers and drunkards, among whom the most capable was the Duke of Cumberland, a terry despot and reactionary ... the Duke of Kent was and remained a rude soldier and gambler and did not possess any skills. Until the age of 50 he remained unmarried, but... since all the other sons of the king were either unmarried or childless... he decided to marry in order to secure the succession to the throne for his However, his older brother came to the same brilliant idea ... Victoria inherited many family traits - mediocre abilities, unattractive appearance and unusually quarrelsome and despotic character ... "And socrealism... Coffee machine was broken at the library. I think. It had parts missing and wasn't lit up.
I had a coffee at home so it wasn't a problem.
On the way home I enjoyed the lights of the city. I love how warm they looked, contrasted with the darkening sky.
When I got home I ran into my parents. They were just about to leave to see the priest to ask him to conduct the rites for the funeral. It'll be next week.

The others use word-by-word translations from German to English. Those translations will only start to make sense when you translate them back to German word-by-word.
When the person on the other end asks them to explain what they are even trying to say, they just repeat the same garbled-up nonsense, but louder and with more German vocabulary sprinkled in. It sometimes reminds me of those old jokes where 'I am hungry' translates to 'I am from Hungary'.
Weeks later, everyone is pissed because communication with the customer is so bad and things happened.
The idea of quality in general is alien to this company, but 'creative' solutions and cheap hacks are valued. We are genuinely unable to tell the difference between 'works as specified' and 'if we squint a little and stretch the specification a little, this looks like it might do something that resembles what was specified'. That is, if we have specifications. Usually, we do not, because boss does not believe in it. We don't have time for that nonsense! (But we do have time to troubleshoot and fix what was built without specifications, and we do have the money to pay for hardware that was destroyed.)
There is a pattern of over-promising in areas where we have no skill or experience, just trying to get the job. If we actually land it, we don't allocate enough resources to compensate for the lack of skill and experience, and give it the good old college try. But the boss is genuinely and deeply hurt when he gets dragged into court once again or when a customer holds back payments. Because, you know, we really tried like so hard!
We are also unable to detect incompetence in employees. We hire electrical engineers who can't wire a PLC to a power supply, and we keep them on the payroll for years.
Emotional and professional distance is the only way I survive at this place, and I am trying to get trainings and certifications to get a better job at a better company. Not better paying, just at a place where people try to be professional.

They believed that the five senses clouded our awareness of eternity, and without them, a human could actually establish contact with God by thought. An elderly man who claimed to have “nothing left to live for” was the only test subject to volunteer. To purge him of all his senses, the scientists performed a complex operation in which every sensory nerve connection to the brain was surgically severed.* Although the test subject retained full muscular function, he could not see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. With no possible way to communicate with or even sense the outside world, he was alone with his thoughts.
Scientists monitored him as he spoke aloud about his state of mind in jumbled, slurred sentences that he couldn’t even hear. After four days, the man claimed to be hearing hushed, unintelligible voices in his head. Assuming it was an onset of psychosis, the scientists paid little attention to the man’s concerns.
Two days later, the man cried that he could hear his dead wife speaking with him, and even more, he could communicate back. The scientists were intrigued, but were not convinced until the subject started naming dead relatives of the scientists. He repeated personal information to the scientists that only their dead spouses and parents would have known. At this point, a sizable portion of scientists left the study.
After a week of conversing with the deceased through his thoughts, the subject became distressed, saying the voices were overwhelming. In every waking moment, his consciousness was bombarded by hundreds of voices that refused to leave him alone. He frequently threw himself against the wall, trying to elicit a pain response. He begged the scientists for sedatives, so he could escape the voices by sleeping. This tactic worked for three days, until he started having severe night terrors. The subject repeatedly said that he could see and hear the deceased in his dreams.
Only a day later, the subject began to scream and claw at his non-functional eyes, hoping to sense something in the physical world. The hysterical subject now said the voices of the dead were deafening and hostile, speaking of hell and the end of the world. At one point, he yelled, “No Heaven, no forgiveness,” for five hours straight. He continually begged to be killed, but the scientists were convinced that he was close to establishing contact with God.
After another day, the subject could no longer form coherent sentences. Seemingly mad, he started to bite off chunks of flesh from his arm. The scientists rushed into the test chamber and restrained him to a table so he could not kill himself. After a few hours of being tied down, the subject halted his struggling and screaming. He stared blankly at the ceiling as teardrops silently streaked across his face. For two weeks, the subject had to be manually rehydrated due to the constant crying. Eventually, he turned his head and, despite his blindness, made focused eye contact with a scientist for the first time in the study.
He whispered, “I have spoken with God, and He has abandoned us,” and his vital signs stopped.
There was no apparent cause of death.

that was the point, where he truly had nothing left to live for.

We need an epic large scale battle drawn between these species while german balls only support one of those, because the other stinks.

>>9404Are you going to some bumfuck bavarian village? Or into the mountains in general? Two hours for a bit over 100km sounds like no autobahn allowed.
Then again, going by train takes only barely one and half times as long, so the place in question must be pretty close to a train station with a connection.
Then again again, maybe you have to switch trains a few times, with waiting times inbetween.
Or the train ride itself is only one hour or so and the rest is going by bus, but in that case I don't know how it is with the 49€ ticket.
If I want to visit my parents, I can go 2-2,5 h by car or ~4 h by train.

I had a pretty okay time yesterday. We visited the cemetery. I lit some candles. We ran out, but thankfully I brought a few tealights in my coat pocket so we could light one at the central cross for the countryside graves we couldn’t visit.
For me that’s probably the most part of this ritual. I mean it’s important to light candles for the graves here too, but I always make sure to light one for my great-grandmother too.
My mother kept talking about her ideas for her own burial and how she wants to have her ashes scattered and I frankly told her that “I’m not going to do that gay American movie shit” and that we should return to discussing this topic once it becomes more actual and we can judge the economic circumstances more soundly instead of thinking about it now.
I worked some more on my translation of that Han dynasty essay. It’s shocking how much easier it is than Song-dynasty prose. I have like 4 lines left but I really didn’t feel like completing it last night.
But I did finish reading the Shujing. I should probably write a post about that.
Up next is finally getting to it and completing that fucking presentation. And practice handwriting a bit now that I have my passive-character deck in order.

Has any Ernst somewhat seriously already considered what should happen with his body after his death? Or maybe even something like a will?
..and would be willing to share some details or thoughts?
This Ernst has no problem with his body being used for either science or as an emergency replacement, if anything useful is found left. On the other hand Ernst would want some form of "this uniquely symbolizes Ernst", even if his body ends up spread all over the place. I don't rly care about being send to the crematorium or if my whole body gets left for natural rotting procedure to take over. In the latter case I would just advice to pick an easy degrade-able coffin; don't waste too much on stuff nobody gonna see anyway. And in both cases it's not my decision what is economical anyway.
If I could freely decide what actually happens after my death, with a will or something, I would prolly demand something like the following:
> The Body shall burn to ashes.> The Ashes may return to earth.> The skull remains.> You've buried this seed into your ashes.> I've buried your ashes into this earth.> The skull shall hold what remains.Effectively planting any seed (or sapling), into an ash/compost mixture and using the skull as plant pot. The other remains, depending on how much was useful, can be scattered pretty much anywhere; maybe leave just a little ashes for the compost, though. It's to symbolize nourishing the plant. If you have too much ashes, use the surrounding earth and fold it in. Might need some protection against roe. They love eating saplings.
But, uhhh, that prolly isn't possible because of some ruling regarding human remains and some "you can't just simply bury a human skull here." Maybe needs a religion to work.
And to counter something like:
> You egocentric narcissistic asshole just want to expand your influence even past your own death. That's why you want a tree planted in your name.Na'ah! It symbolizes "a life spent for the living".

>>9412>118 km is the distance as the crow fliesDuhhhh that's vital information at these distances. Going 300+ km will probably not make much of a difference on the average, but at shorter distances it's a pretty important factor.
But ok, Bimmelbahnen are the bane of anyone's existence who actually has to be somewhere.

Maybe you could memetically transfer your own "being" into other people. That’s how I know a bit my grandfather without ever seeing him, throughout my father who behaves a lot like him. Since I behave a lot like my father, part of my grandfather is still alive I guess. Depending on how individuality is defined.
