How To

This page contains instructions on how to use some of ECs features.

Radio Ernstiwan

EC has a radio streaming server, which is running on Icecast, the link is in the top menu bar. The server is available at radio.ernstchan.top, Port 80 is for unencrypted streams, port 443 can be used with SSL/TLS. If you want to stream please write a mail to ernstiwan at protonmail.ch and ask for an account. Please provide an alphanumeric streamer alias, and if possible a 48x48px avatar picture (for the statistics page). Popular streaming clients are butt (easy to use) and mixxx (more features). Icecast prefers ogg as streaming format, but mp3 will also work. Edcast is not recommended.

Note that the public stream has been closed. Now that videostreaming is possible, we couldn't risk to allow anonymous access.

Ernst TV

The radio server is able to handle videostreams. You can use your regular Radio Ernstiwan mountpoint with OBS Studio to start a videostream. In OBS, go to Settings, Output, and set Output Mode = Advanced, then "Type" to "Custom Output (ffmpeg)". Go to the "Recording"-Tab. Yes, recording, not streaming! Set "FFMpeg output type" to "Output to URL", set container format to "mpegts". Use the following settings (replace the placeholders with your mountpoint specific data):

File path or URL: icecast://yourmount:yourpass@radio.ernstchan.top:80/yourmount
Muxer settings: content_type=video/m2ts tls=0

Remember that the bitrate you configure determines the quality of your stream, and the bandwidth that is consumed. Please pay attention to what windows you are streaming in order to not accidentally nudify yourself. For that reason it is strongly recommended to use for example window capture instead of display capture. Handling the OBS scene editor can be tricky. You can test what you'd be streaming if you select "Output to File"-option instead and then watch the recorded video.

Quake 3

Ernst has a Quake 3-Arena-server (actually the free version, OpenArena) running on the Radio Ernstiwan server. If you want to play, get the game:

1. OpenArena, a free Quake3-engine, download and unzip: OpenArena
2. pak0.pk3 copy it from your legal copy of quake3 to the baseoa-folder of your OpenArena-installation - or get it here: Pak0
3. The files pak1.pk3 to pak9.pk3 for some additional stuff and the custom-made Ernst models (mostly old Krautchan-/b/-stuff), download them and put them also in baseoa: Other paks

Start the game, choose Multiplayer => Specify => radio.ernstchan.top, Port 27960 should be preconfigured. Or open console (^ or Shift+^) and enter: \connect radio.ernstchan.top:27960

Remember to store the server in your favourites (when on the server: ESC => server info => add to favourites). NOTE: It seems like the server can only be added to favourites when connected via its IP address 194.5.250.49, so try that if adding to favourites doesn't work.
