Nancy and the Jam Fancys - Swan Songs (2025)
chatgpt says:
The sound is reminiscent of classic-era Australian punk and pub rock, with echoes of bands like Radio Birdman, The Stooges, Bad Dreams, and even The Smiths—if those bands had been led by an antipodean Jim Morrison.
Their style combines raw energy, charismatic vocals, and emotionally intelligent themes.

This weeks winner is "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call."
Good album. I'd almost say very good.
In the original introduction to the album, I called Nick Cave an emo Tom Waits, and I won't take it back.
Fun fact: Nick Cave runs a website (www.theredhandfiles.com) where you can ask him questions. He reads all the questions himself and regularly answers some of them. It's basically what everyone else is doing these days in the form of Reddit AMAs, but he's been doing it with effort and for years.
"The Red Hand Files has no moderator, and it is not monetized, and I am the only one who has access to the questions that sit patiently waiting to be answered. Thank you all for being a part of what has become, at least for me, a life-changing, soul-enriching exercise in commonality and togetherness."
As he himself writes. A nice project.
Out of the poll due to lack of interest: "War - Why Can't We Be Friends."
Too bad, it's a good album, and Low Rider is a good song with a good music video, just so you know!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsrqKE1iqqoNew to the poll:
"The Coup - Genocide & Juice" (1994)
Because we haven't had any hip-hop in a while.
Political rap by someone who calls himself a communist. That was certainly more unusual in the 90s than it is today.
Good album.
Live:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aroChI2aie0"The Dolly Rocker Movement - Our Days Mind The Tyme" (2009)
An Australian indie/psychedelic rock band.
Good album.
Not good live material, so get this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QPZfKULI-g"Hayden - Everything I Long For" (1995)
Indie Rock/Folk.
The first album by Hayden, who has released eight more albums to date.
The first song on the album, "As Bad As They Seem," is a personal favorite.
Good album

This weeks winner is "King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island."
Good album. Very rock, very orchestral.
New to the poll:
The Bonnevilles - Folk Art & The Death Of Electric Jesus (2010)
A band from Northern Ireland that describes its music as "garage punk blues."
I'd says the sound is a bit raw blues-rock.
Live:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ul8_Yq-ciMGood album.
The Dickies - The Incredible Shrinking Dickies (1979)

Ketzerfetzer777 here.
Since we now have a death date (unless someone able wants to take over as Ernstadmin; the Ketzerfetzer is sadly not a good informatician), the Ketzerfetzer wants to thank Iwan, the radio and all loyal listeners (and the one viewer who probably was also Iwan), and especially everyone participating in the Ernstalbum. Anyone who makes OC is one of the cool kids.
Now for my actual concern: Because of real life shenanigans the Ketzerfetzer will not be around almost the entirety of the next week; since I really do want to do some farewell streams, those will be held this week, possibly until sunday. One each day, and if it does work out, another one next weekend, maybe.
And because it's so much different stuff, there won't be any actual announcements in the usual fashion, but only this one announcement.
So, what has the Ketzerfetzer planned?
Each day of this week, if possible, in the evening (17-18 UTC) there will be a stream.
Topics so far are:
Novelty music with Flight of the Conchords & Die Doofen
Grrrl Power with Lana Del Rey, Garbage, Katie Melua, or others, but at least female vocals
Nostalgia with My Chemical Romance (both well-known albums)
Solefald - Viking-Post-Metal with a red and a black album
Electric Six - Fire, Switzerland, Mustang, and it Ernst feels like it, some more
Maybe there will be some new ideas, and if not, I will find something for musical shitposting.
A first impromptu stream will be held at 18 UTC (i.e. in less than 15 minutes), maybe some soundtrack, or Kataklysm. Let's see.

1730 UTC in this thread. No kicking.

Tonight probably no Ketzerfetzer stream; possibly after 2000 UTC, if at all.
