Bugs Flex.gif (1.37 MB, 480x270)

To prevent the new information from being forgotten in the radio thread, and to appropriately flex with out newly discovered feature, a new thread seems necessary. We can now videostream over our radio server. In fact, we could have done so all the time, but we just found out that it's feasible. OBS works well as streaming client, it is not known if other tools also work. By now, at least three different Ernsts tried it and got it working.

Everyone who has a streaming account can do this, no extra configuration on server side needed. The stream will show normally in Icecast and will be recognized by BOT Erna and pushed to the radio Discord as usual, but you can't watch in your browser, because it can't handle the format. I heard it's possible if webm is used instead of mpegts, but until now I couldn't find a working setup for that. For watching you'll need for example VLC, which you can feed with the xspf file that Icecast provides. Red fields are mandatory as far as we know, in green fields you can put whatever works for you. Of course you'll need at least semi-decent bandwidth on your side to even attempt videostreaming.

OBS Studio: https://obsproject.com/download - important: After adjusting the settings, you have to click "Start Recording", not "Start Streaming". Don't ask me why. Please be careful with what you stream, I recommend "Window Capture" instead of "Display Capture", and then choose the correct window. That way you won't accidentally stream your desktop, where your name, address, banking PIN and dick pic collection will be visible. For your Copy/Paste convenience:

File path or URL: icecast://yourmount:yourpass@radio.ernstchan.top:80/yourmount
Muxer settings: content_type=video/m2ts tls=0

Happy streaming!

Let's see how this goes.
Note: There will be no commentary, explanation or anything.
You will just be watching someone play a game, provided the machine plays along.

Videohinweis.jpg (18.47 KB, 815x101)

Since Icecast provides the stream format via API, we can drag this though to our EC integration and make an assumption if the format is video. for now the implementation checks for whether the string "video" appears in the stream format string, so it works for video/m2ts, but would also work for video/webm or whatever.

There will be another vidya stream this week. The exact time is dependant on certain external factors that are not set yet, so please bear with me, but it will probably not be before 7 in the evening.
However, this time we won't go hunting, but instead play some games that some people would call "retro".
In fact, you can choose what we are playing. The choices are picrelated:

>Dino Crisis, PC version

>Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive
>Turok 2 Remaster
>Nox

This will probably not become a weekly game stream, but we will try and use Strawpoll nonetheless: https://strawpoll.com/xVg71j9OMyr
I hope I chose the right options.
The poll will be active until tomorrow evening 1630 UTC.

 No.18957

Votes have been cast, the decision has been made.
We will play:

NOX

An action rpg released at the same time as Diablo 2, so nobody knows it.
Ernst has already started a save with the magician, so we will continue where I left.
Language is german, for *reasons*.

Projected time is tomorrow 7pm UTC, for about an hour or two.

 No.18965

Correction: If nothing will dramatically change, we will start at 6, not at 7.

Good movie.

We're about to start.
The film was originally 90 minutes long. After the audience left the cinema in shock at the first screenings, it was cut down to 60 minutes.
The original version seems to have been lost forever after 90 years and various changing copyright holders.

Currently streaming Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Check it out.

...and that was it for tonight.

If there is interest, I can stream my further exploits. I promise, I will get better at the game.

movie stream vote.png (292.44 KB, 800x800)

There will now be a very democratic as if film stream under the banner of the album stream.

The stream will take place irregularly and less frequently than the album stream. Probably once a month at most.

In order to be able to serve an /int/ audience that may exist, films will only be shown in their original language. If the original language is English, there will be German subtitles, otherwise the subtitles will be English.

The rule for the films is that they allow you to go to the toilet without getting lost.
Suggestions for days and times are welcome.

The first stream is expected to take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 18:00 UTC

The following films are available for vote:

Hard Boiled (Hong Kong, 1992)

There are many good films by John Woo, but this is the best. Lots of pew pew and bam bam. The story is there.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWvCK7doZqM

Good film

The Raid (Indonesia, 2011)

Lots of pew pew and bam bam. The story is there. John Woo was definitely a role model here, even if there's more martial arts for the second half of the film. What is impressive here is that the budget was only $1.1 million.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6Q7KnXpNOg

Good film

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Great Britain, 1975)

Not The Life of Brian. The other one.

There will be a gaming stream at 1300 UTC. It's rather spontaneous, but such is life as Keinbernd.
We will be playing the Gamecube cult classic Eternal Darkness.
It's a lovecraftian action adventure which I've played through countless times over the past 20 years.

But since the EcKinsey colleague told me to increase engagement, I will also give you people a choice. Poll will be open until the end of the first level.

 No.20206

Another film stream.

New to the poll:

The Killer (Hong Kong, 1989)

Since Hard Boiled enjoyed such great popularity, i present to you the second best film by John Woo.
Lots of bang bang and boom boom. I like the artwort in pic related.
There's an american remake from 2024 which John Woo directed himself and i haven't watched it and never will.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqY3KqCaTcc

Blood Sucking Freaks (USA, 1976)

Strange film and the gore effects suck but still very entertaining.
The lead actor, Seamus O'Brien, is great but it seems that he was mainly a theater actor. Sad.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4Lj8sHhQo0&t

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (USA, 1988)

I saw it for the first time 5 years or so ago.
A very entertaining film about a clown-like alien race that lands on Earth to look for food.

A video game based on the film was recently released, which surprised me a lot. Unfortunately it is a genre i am not interested in.

Ernst originally watched the film because he heard the title music, which is really great.

Almost forgot: We will have to finish Eternal Darkness.

That's why tomorrow, 2024/10/30 from 20:30 UTC there will be the grand finale, provided stream and everything works properly.
The first 90 min will be a recap and flashback to what has happened so far, so if you missed all other streams before, you will still know what is going on! The first 15 min of that will probably just be a bit of music to tune in.

Due to regular old Ernst fail there was a mixup concerning the start of the stream.
It will start one hour earlier, at 19:30 UTC.
I apologize for the mixup and will pray a bunch of hail marys to make up for it.
Tits for grabbing your attention

movie stream vote.png (292.44 KB, 800x800)

Since the last stream was a failure do to technical difficulties, i will try again.
Instead of regular movies i fill the poll with documentaries. Maybe they allow for more conversation (which sadly only happened on /b/).

In the poll:

The Barkley Marathons - The Race That Eats Its Young (US, 2014)
A documentary about a "Marathon" in the wild which goes on for over 2 days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79IUKC9gS-8

My Best Fiend (DE, 1999)
A documentary by Werner Herzog about his relationship to Klaus Kinski.
It's well made but probably not that interesting if you have no idea who Werner Herzog or Klaus Kinski are.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lae8FewbnuU

Carts Of Darkness (CA, 2008)
A nice little film about homeless people collecting bottles and sometimes racing down hills with their shopping carts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEp1NBjucBM

Grizzly Man (US, 2005)
Another Werner Herzog film.
This one is about Timothy Treadwell, a man that went to a National Park to live with Grizzly Bears for months at a time once a year for over 10 years.
It did not end well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWA7GtDmNFU

Dark Days (US, 2000)
Homeless people living in the underground of 1990s New York.
It's a bit more on the "artistic" site.
