The battle continues. My head hurt the entire day and I was tired as hell so I opted to just reading stuff unrelated to the thesis because if I had to look at one more fucking quote on ctext I was going to throw up.

Now that it is the night I've started working more and my headache has stopped. I've produced a substantial number of translations, I think just one more passage about state formations will be needed and then I can just assemble this shit like lego pieces into a chapter and then we are onto the final stretch of the Han Fei and post-hegemonic legalism plus some shitty closing chapter before just editing.

Currently like 1.5k chars into the chapter.

Yes and possibly.

In theory it could be possible to reprogram the whole microcontroller by sending a specifically crafted payload. I think it would have to be some sort of an exploit at least based on some cursory knowledge on the (re)program sequence. Displaying false values would of course be trivial as I'm trusting the API for the validity of the data.

Posting this in the Today thread because it's mainly a rant.

Currently watching along "Last One Laughing", an Amazon produced german tv show apparently based on a japanese format where they put a bunch of comedians (like actual standup and comedy film comedians) and "comedians" (like tv/radio/podcast hosts, models and regular actors) into a room for six hours and they are not allowed to laugh. Anyone who laughs twice gets thrown out.
Obviously this concept works very well with german comedians, doesn't it?
Well, for them it's probably nice, they can celebrate themselves constantly and show how funny everyone is because eventually someone WILL laugh.
The thing here is that while most german comedians are as stereotypically unfunny as foreigners will probably expect. In fact, kidnapping the people in this itt thread and putting them into a room under this stipulation would probably yield a much funnier end result.
With a good script those people can indeed be funny, but left on their own, it all boils down to 80% funny voices and 20% "humor" of the kind that the fart-huffing german would call "humor", and they all do bits. I don't know how much of that is improvised, but it's really, really not funny. They will of course claim the opposite and constantly talk about (in one of those interview rooms) how they were always short of pissing and shitting their pants from all the funny.
And because it's an Amazon production I automatically have a lower opinion of everyone involved, especially after learning that they had a preview gimmick where you had a webcam track your face and end the preview after you laughed twice.
It's absolutely genius from a marketing/data kraken point of view, but I really don't know what kind of 89IQ bydlo would really do that. Probably the same kind of person who pays for youtube, or converses with companies on facebook.

I hate German comedy not surprising given that you call me a self hating German, kek and avoid it like the plague, needless to say that your "humor" is included in "German comedy" as well. These days I get my media consumption related laughs from polemic marxists Germans though and the occassional TikTok.

I slept terribly last night for some reason. I blame the syrup based drinks. I just felt like I was in pain and as if I were getting baked alive. But it somehow passed and then I could sleep a bit.

I woke up late and had breakfast and then ran and took a shower. Left to buy some groceries and to turn in the Easter scratch tickets I got to claim the 5 or so euros I won on them.

We called an electrician to do some repairs so there was no electricity for most of the day. Turns out that years ago, during the renovation most of the wiring was done by old electricians who were about to retire so the results were essentially what the terminus technicus call "*Zigeuner Hufbeschlag*", so like my outlets weren't grounded even after we put grounding in it a year ago. After a lot of cussing the issue turned out to be that there was one box with incorrectly connected wires.
Which kind of feels like being absolved of a sin really. No, it wasn't me who was an idiot that sometimes the top of the PC would shock me and so on.

Electrician asked me if I knew where a box was or how it was wired and I replied "I don't know, really. I just live here." and he said "That's a healthy approach". Well, for his pockets anyway, but I think he rather meant that if you don't know anything about electricity, you probably shouldn't be thinking too hard about it anyway.

Later in the afternoon I was finally able to cook lunch and have a coffee. I finally knocked out the last requested chapter before going onto Han Fei. I'm 10k characters over the minimum requirement, so this thing's in the fucking bag.
It's so fucking close to getting done.
I find myself resorting to listening to Mahler and Wagner while working on it. It just makes me feel good honestly.

The quest continues...

Once I'm free of the thesiswork, I will reorient myself wholly to modern Chinese, because yet again all I'm doing is basically translating classical all day.

I woke up late. Had breakfast, exercised and left early for class to get some business taken care of before then.
As I left I was feeling kind of melancholic. I wasn't really depressed or in despair or anything it was just a mood where I wanted to sigh and acknowledge that the times are changing and that I have desires for things. Honestly it just felt kind of normal otherwise.

In essence all I did was pick up a German copy of Zarathustra and return two of the books I borrowed from the Germanistik library at university because I foolishly let my borrowing lapse and I couldn't extend them. Thankfully I didn't have to pay them any fines because I'm sure they would have actually shook me down for like 80 something forints if it came to that. (Which is not the fact that I cannot pay it, rather just the pettiness of it honestly.)

Afterwards I went and camped before the professor's office, waiting for class to start before I realised that I could pick up my print copy of the journal I got my book review published in so I rushed over to another building to get that thing done. They didn't have a list ready yet but they let me take a copy regardless and asked if it's okay with me that I don't sign that I've taken a copy and I was like
>Yeah, what is it to me? I mean it's more of a thing you need, with this being a Chinese institution and paperwork being the heart and soul of things.

Once this came to pass I went back to finish reading a chapter of Hegel for class before, which I managed to finish. Other guy didn't show up so it was only me at the seminar. It went rather well. We also discussed the state of my thesis.
Next week we will be discussing a shorter Marx piece. Funny how this is the first time I had Marx get assigned in any capacity. I borrowed it from the library and I was kind of embarrassed how the librarian said "Ah, the Marx-volume" with such significance.

Honestly I just wish I finally got through the thesis and the midterms so I could breathe some. And the whole degree honestly just so that I could be a useless retard and play video games and read random books and translate random shit.

Interestingly I was born in a part that is rather north but without many stereotypes on a national level. Now I live in northern Germany and I dislike the idea of ever moving south, like Munich, Freiburg, Stuttgart or Würzburg etc. Even Kaiserslautern would be too south.
